In addition to the Edinburgh school, Kaplan has locations in Canada, Ireland, the USA, the UK and Europe that offer English language classes, as well as the Alpadia Languages Schools brand which provides year-round French and German courses in France, Germany and Switzerland, and summer camps in English, French and German.
The U.S. Department of State has recently changed its visa policy to allow international students to apply for a visa up to one year in advance of the start date of their course. The previous time limit was 120 days prior to the start of the course.
This change has been put into effect from January 26th, 2023, and is a permanent change intended to help facilitate student applicants' visa interviews and travel processes. While students can only enter the USA on a student visa within 30 days of their program start date, some international students may be eligible for visa interview waivers until the end of 2023. This measure is meant to reduce visa wait times and facilitate non-immigrant travel.

All higher education students in Australia, including international students, must now have a Unique Student Identifier (USI). This is an individual education number that provides an online record of vocational and higher education in Australia and is required to obtain a qualification or statement of attainment.
Onshore international students should acquire a USI as soon as possible, but those studying outside of Australia still enrolled with an Australian institution do not need one for their degree. Those who partially studied in Australia prior to January 1st 2023 but will complete the remainder of their course offshore should create a USI as soon as possible.
An exemption is available for international students who have already returned home and completed their course before January 1st 2023.

The government of Australia has confirmed that increased post-study work rights for international students will commence from July 1st along with the list of eligible qualifications that will qualify and has also announced that work rights while studying will increase to 48 hours per fortnight.
All bachelor's degree students will have up to four years of post-study work rights; master's degree students up to five years; and doctoral students up to six years regardless of their field.
The government said that these changes are targeted at areas of most need, such as health, teaching, engineering and agricultural fields, and have been welcomed by Universities Australia and the International Education Association of Australia (IEAA).
Existing settings for regional and existing settings for regional and remote Australia, which provide additional work rights to encourage study outside the major cities, will be maintained.
Eligible graduates with a valid Temporary Graduate Visa on July 1st, 2023, or those who apply for one after July 1st, 2023 will be considered for the two-year extension. This new policy is aimed at addressing skills shortages in Australia and making the country more attractive as a study destination to support the recovery of the international education sector.
