EU's ETIAS: Streamlining Travel for Visa-Exempt Visitors

The European Union (EU) is introducing the ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System) travel authorization, set to launch next year. This system aims to simplify travel procedures for visa-exempt nationals.

Notably, health information and biometrics won't be required during the application process, just involves providing personal data, passport details, and travel plans.

The application fee is €7, with quick automated processing. The ETIAS is valid for three years or until passport expiry, serving travelers from various countries, including Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, UAE, UK, and USA.

Set to launch in 2024, the ETIAS system promises a more efficient and convenient entry process for visa-exempt travel to Europe. Further details can be found on the official ETIAS website.

TOEFL iBT Update: Changes for Australian Visas

The TOEFL iBT exam's revised version is currently not accepted for Australian visa applications. This change, effective from July 26th, results from ETS modifying the test. While TOEFL iBT is still valid for university admissions, it won't be eligible for visa applications after July 26th, 2023.

Accepted English proficiency tests for visas include IELTS, Pearson Test of English, Cambridge English (CAE), and Occupational English Test (OET) for healthcare professionals.

A Request for Expression of Interest (REOI) process is underway to assess new English tests for Australian visas.

Previously earned TOEFL iBT scores before July 26th, 2023, are recognized for most visa sub-classes.
